ABOUT US
Senior Activities and Day Center
Emma Jean Caring Hands (EJCH) Senior Activities and Day Center, owned and operated by Erica Jones Phillips, was established as a Limited Liability Company on January 1, 2017. A family-oriented person, Erica has always been the loving, caring, willing to give her last, kind of person. Having a heart of gold, Erica followed her dreams helping others live their day to day lives and attended Atlanta Career Institute in 2010 becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant the same year. She is also certified in, Adult/ Children First Aid & CPR, Phlebotomy, Medication Aid, Fire Safety & Natural Disasters, and supervised the Memory Care Unit at Benton House of Grayson. Early 2016 Erica’s Grandmother, Emma Jean Jones, was diagnosed with Dementia. Receiving the
news about her Grandmother, Erica wanted to be there as much as possible, not just for her Grandmother, but for her family.
Over the course of eight (8) years, working side by side with Alzheimer Dementia patients, Erica knew what was ahead for her family and Grandmother. Creating EJCH Adult Daycare Center, became Erica’s focus. Having a tremendous amount of love and respect for the elderly, Erica wanted to operate a Day Center where Aging Adults & Seniors who has this disease can come to socialize, be active, be a part of community activities, and allow them to participate without feeling like a prisoner being held back by this disease.

DEMENTIA
With the expectation of rapid expansion in the health care/ adult daycare industry, EJCH will provide the trusted partnership with families needing assistance with loved ones that suffer from early stage Alzheimer’s Dementia disease. Studies show this disease progressing with seniors losing their independence every day. There was an estimated 5.3 million Americans of all ages that had Alzheimer's disease in 2015. Of the 5.3 million Americans with this disease, an estimated 5.1 million are age 65 and older, and approximately 200,000 individuals are under 65. Almost two-thirds of American's with Alzheimer's are women. Of the 5.1 million people age 65 and older with Alzheimer's in the United States, 3.2 million are women and 1.9 million are men. The number of Americans with this disease and other dementia will grow each year as the size and proportion of the U.S. population age 65 and older continue to increase. By 2025, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer's disease is estimated to reach 7.1 million - a 40 percent increase from the 5.1 million ages 65 and older affected in 2015. Adult Day cares are available to give those who care for Alzheimer's Dementia patients a break.
Approximately two-thirds of caregivers are women and 34 percent are age 65 or older. Forty-one percent of caregivers have a household income of $50,000 or less. Over half of primary caregivers of people with dementia take care of parents. Also, it is estimated that 250,000 children and young adults between ages 8 and 18 provide help to someone with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia. EJCH is an Senior Activity and Day center that will provide the care that the participants receive at home, allowing their caregivers a piece of mind while they are running errands, entering back into the work force, or just wanting some time to themselves.
